We in the transgender community have been overlooked by healthcare providers. Many times we have heard the stories of how medical technicians were rude, nurses outed us in the waiting rooms, and even how doctors never did their homework and assumed we were genetic in our bodies when our medical charts show different.      We do have several great resources right here in the Asheville area. One organization is through the Western North Carolina Community Health Services [or WNCCHS] and their "Transgender Health Program". They offer hormone, therapy and counseling, dental, general medical services. They serve over 45 local transgender clients on a sliding scale.
